Glen Innes is a rural community on the New England Highway 100km north of Armidale. Glen Innes West Infants School is situated on the traditional land of the Ngoorabul people. The school is set on approximately 1.4ha and has a heritage-listed classroom block.
The school specialises in education for students from Kindergarten to Year 2. Its current enrolment is 20 students, of which 50% of the students are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. The school plays an active role in the community through events such as the local Celtic Festival, Glen Innes Show, and Dance Spectacular.
The Teacher-Hearing Impairment position is based at Glen Innes West Infants School. It involves travelling to support students who are hearing impaired in a range of school settings, including those prior to school age, preschool, primary school, high school, schools for specific purposes (SSP), and support classes. The suitable applicant requires their own vehicle, a current driver's licence, and a willingness to travel between work sites.
Selection CriteriaApproval to teach Hearing Impairment, Primary or currently undertaking or currently enrolled in Hearing Impairment Primary qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education.
Demonstrated ability to develop, deliver and evaluate differentiated learning plans to meet the complex needs of hearing-impaired students across varied educational settings.
Highly developed communication, interpersonal and organisational skills with a proven capacity to build positive relationships and work collaboratively with students, staff, parents, and external agencies to meet the needs of students with hearing loss.
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

If applicable, engagement will be temporary until successful completion of the Teacher Special Education Hearing Impairment (Primary) qualifications as recognised by the NSW Department of Education which must be completed within 24 months.

Applicants seeking either permanent full time or permanent part time employment are encouraged to apply for this position. If the recommended applicant is seeking permanent part time employment (FTE from 0.1 to 0.9 inclusive), they will be offered an appointment at their desired FTE.
