Our diverse operations include the cultivation and processing of bananas, avocados, coffee, lychees, and lemons. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Quality Assurance (QA) Manager to lead our quality systems, ensure compliance with all industry standards, and drive continuous improvements across our operations.

Position Overview

The QA Manager is responsible for managing, implementing, and maintaining all aspects of Howe Farming Enterprises' Quality Assurance systems and programs. This role ensures our products meet customer, regulatory, and market requirements while supporting operational efficiency and innovation.

The successful candidate will oversee quality systems, conduct internal audits, liaise with customers, and work closely with production teams, agronomists, and senior management to uphold and exceed the company's quality objectives.

Other Duties
  • Complete weekly QA checklists and submit reports to management.
  • Record and action all customer feedback, ensuring follow-up where necessary.
  • Accurately record management meeting minutes and maintain proper documentation.
  • Assist with data entry in FarmBoy database, administrative reporting, and QA-related email communications.
  • Develop, implement, and review policies regarding transport, visitors, and contractors.
  • Ensure weight measurement devices are calibrated on schedule and in accordance with industry standards.
  • Ensuring external verification requirements are met in accordance with food safety standards ( water, MRL'S, coldroom calibration)
  • Manage the customer specifications register to ensure all current specifications are being used and referenced.
  • Step into other operational roles when required to support business continuity.
  • Provide basic I.T. support where necessary for QA systems and reporting tools.
Key Skills & Attributes
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and quality systems in horticulture or agriculture.
  • Excellent understanding of relevant compliance frameworks (HACCP, Freshcare, WQA, Coles Supplier Requirements HARPS).
  • High level of attention to detail with excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to train, mentor, and influence staff at all levels.
  • Effective communication and report-writing skills for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in data management, auditing tools, and quality control systems.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic agricultural environment.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree or diploma in Food Science, Quality Assurance, Horticulture, or a related field (preferred but not essential).
  • Minimum 3–5 years' experience in a QA management or supervisory role within agriculture, food production, or a related industry.
  • Hands-on experience managing quality systems, audits, and customer compliance requirements.
  • Training for the relevant standards- Freshcare training and HARPS (HACCP) or willing to obtain.
  • Familiarity with tropical crop production, particularly bananas, avocados, coffee, lychees, or lemons, is highly desirable.
  • Driver's License
