Your Role

Joining the IIA Underwriting& Product Team as a Lead Specialist, youll play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the operational plan for the end-to-end lifecycle management of individual products and entire product classes. This role is central to ensuring our products are not only aligned with the departments overall product strategy but also meet all regulatory, legislative, and reinsurance treaty requirements. Youll be accountable for ensuring our offerings deliver on customer expectations while driving key operational objectives related to product health, customer growth, and retention.

Leveraging comprehensive data and market research, youll guide product enhancements that support strategic goals and improve performance across the portfolio. Beyond lifecycle management, youll influence the definition of strategy and vision for both individual products and broader product classes. Youll be instrumental in identifying and implementing business improvements, while fostering collaboration across distribution, portfolio, digital, and other cross-functional teams.

Working closely with a wide range of stakeholders, youll help build market-leading products on new technology platforms, significantly impacting product performance and profitability across IAGs portfolio. Success in this role requires strategic thinking, strong commercial acumen, and the ability to balance innovation with regulatory obligations, all while championing collaboration to achieve business objectives and elevate product effectiveness.

This is permanent position, and we welcome applicants from Gadigal Country (DP2, Sydney), Naarm (Melbourne), and Meanjin (Brisbane).

About You

• 5+ years of product management experience, preferably in commercial lines insurance, including but not limited to Liability, Construction& Engineering, SME, ISR or Professional Indemnity.
• Deep knowledge of insurance product structure and experience in drafting insurance products.
• Strong ability to integrate inputs from pricing, underwriting, portfolio management, and distribution to optimise product lifecycles and profitability.
• Demonstrated experience influencing product strategy, design and governance, and across multiple product classes and stakeholder groups.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in law, finance, insurance, or related fields, with industry certifications such as ANZIIF preferred.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, strategic thinking, and stakeholder coordination skills, with a customer-centric and innovation-driven mindset.
