The Opportunity

We're seeking a
Manager, Insurable Risk Advisory
to lead VMIA's Government Practice team. This is a leadership role that combines strategic influence with day-to-day delivery. You'll guide a team of Risk Advisors to provide expert risk and insurance advice across government portfolios, helping clients make informed decisions and ensuring Victoria is never unconsciously uninsured.

You'll be the key relationship manager for system owner and agency clients, collaborating across VMIA to design client service plans, lead insurable risk maturity services, and connect clients with expertise across risk reduction and harm prevention.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead, coach, and develop a capable team of Risk Advisors.
  • Build trusted relationships and deliver strategic advisory services to government clients.
  • Act as lead client relationship manager for system owner and agency clients.
  • Design and deliver insurable risk advisory services, from needs analysis to insurance placement.
  • Partner with VMIA teams in Insurance, Claims, and Risk Services to provide optimal risk transfer arrangements.
  • Monitor client feedback and drive continuous improvement in services.

What you'll bring

You'll be a senior insurance and risk professional who thrives on leadership and client impact, with:

  • Proven success in leading teams and developing people through change.
  • Deep insurance knowledge with a strong risk-management mindset
  • Exceptional interpersonal and influencing skills, with emotional intelligence and empathy.
  • Experience managing senior client relationships and negotiating mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • An understanding of public sector complexity and the ability to operate successfully within it.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Finance, Law, or related discipline (postgraduate studies in Risk Management or equivalent experience highly regarded).
