About Us

The Crooked Carrot is a family owned Café in Myalup Western Australia, situated on Forrest Highway, 1.5 hours south of Perth, at the gateway to the Southwest region. Our Café & pristine grounds/playground has quickly become a well-known destination in the region. The Café is open for breakfast and lunch 7 days a week, with kitchen hours from 6.00am to 2.30pm every day.

About the role

We are currently looking for an experienced, dedicated and creative Chef to join our dynamic team on a full-time basis. You must be able to work in our busy commercial kitchen while delivering the highest standards and consistent quality from daily preparation to serving.

Your tasks & responsibilities will include:

  • Consult daily with Head Chef / Sous Chef on the daily requirements, functions and events.
  • Assist in the planning and development of menus, expressing your creativity with access to fresh produce from our garden and local Southwest produce.
  • Maximising productivity and controlling food and labour costs, including monitoring stock levels to reduce wastage.
  • Producing quality high volume meals in a fast paced environment.
  • Working with an established dynamic kitchen team to maintain the high level of morale and team support.
  • Reporting to Head Chef on status of equipment, work areas and general supplies to maintain established health and safety standards.

About You

  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent culinary qualification, with minimum of 2 years' experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen environment.
  • Current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate.
  • Knowledge of all standard procedures and policies pertaining to food preparation, receiving, storage and sanitation.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Available to work weekends and some public holidays.
  • Must have the right to work in Australia (Australian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work visa).
