The Opportunity
Are you a motivated sales professional looking to take ownership of a career-defining role in the transport industry? We're seeking a
Business Development Manager
to an industry leader and growing transport company based in Sydney's inner suburbs.
This position is focused on building a fresh line of business targeted at
small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs).
You'll be at focusing on new business development and providing tailored 4PL transport solutions that deliver value and efficiency.
As the division expands, this role offers a
clear pathway into leadership
, where you'll have the opportunity to grow and lead a team, making it an excellent long-term career opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive new business growth by formulating and executing sales strategies targeting SMEs
- Proactively identify and engage potential clients through cold calling, networking and face-to-face meetings.
- Present and promote transport and logistics solutions, highlighting value to owners and decision-makers.
- Analyse market trends and competitors to stay ahead and adapt strategies accordingly.
- Work closely with the GM to set achievable sales KPIs around revenue, margin, and quarterly targets.
- Hand over new business to the account management team once clients are live, staying focused on
on-road selling and new client acquisition
.
Requirements
- Proven success in
transport/logistics sales
, ideally with exposure to
4PL solutions
. - A strong network of contacts (highly advantageous)
- Self-starter with the ability to deliver short-term results while building a long-term client base.
- Experience selling into the SME space where deals are less bureaucratic and often with direct owner engagement.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Strategic thinker with a customer-first mindset.
- Resilient, driven, and motivated by exceeding sales targets.
