Principal – Ohana Youth Justice School (Cairns)

are launching a
brand-new Youth Justice School in Cairns
, creating a holistic, trauma-informed program to help young people involved in the justice system reconnect with education, wellbeing, and community.
This is a
rare leadership opportunity
to shape a new model of alternative education for high-risk youth and make a real, lasting difference.
About the Role
As Principal, you will:
- Lead the
 establishment and operation
 of the school
- Drive
 excellence in teaching, learning, and wellbeing
- Build and manage a
 high-performing, collaborative team
- Oversee all
 operational, strategic, and compliance aspects
- Strengthen partnerships with
 government, community, and families
You will work closely with Ohana's Executive Leadership Team, the Board, and 54 reasons' wraparound staff to deliver a
coordinated, multidisciplinary approach
.
What We're Looking For
- Master's degree in Education (or equivalent)
- Full registration (or eligibility) with
 Queensland College of Teachers
- Proven leadership in
 alternative, trauma-informed, or special assistance education
- Experience supporting students with
 complex behavioural needs or disabilities
- Excellent
 strategic, interpersonal, and behaviour management skills
- Current car licence
 (mandatory, as student transport is required)
