About The Role
The role is fixed term full time until 1 March 2027.

The
Project Officer
will work as part of a high performing team responsible for supporting building and plumbing industries ahead of new building electrification requirements commencing in 2027. Under the new Building Electrification Regulations, all new residential and most new commercial buildings must be built as all-electric and existing gas hot water systems in residential buildings must be replaced with electric appliances at end-of-life. This position will provide high level project support, ensuring that project deliverables, outcomes and plans are implemented effectively, working in consultation with project staff and key external stakeholders.

Key Selection Criteria
To be successful in this role, you must deliver projects by defining tasks, coordinating team activities and monitoring progress to ensure outcomes are achieved and corrective actions are taken when needed. You will build strong stakeholder relationships by adding value, linking relevant parties, monitoring satisfaction and constructively addressing issues and Lastly, you must apply critical thinking and problem-solving to resolve issues, gather necessary information for informed decisions and demonstrate flexibility by adapting to changing priorities and collaborating effectively with external teams.

Position Accountabilities

  • Provides a comprehensive range of administrative and corporate support services to the project team including coordination of project and stakeholder meetings and preparation of high-volume project correspondence, reports, briefings and presentations.
  • Proactively lead, manage and contribute as part of a team to establish and maintain a program delivery framework to enable effective oversight of programs/projects, aligned with departmental or government practices and standards.
  • Provide timely, accurate and evidence-based advice and insights to support the development of high-quality briefings, meeting papers, presentations and correspondence, consistent with key policy objectives that is suitable for its audience.
  • Maintain effective relationships and work collaboratively with colleagues, the Department's executives and internal and external stakeholders to support government and business unit priorities.
  • Prepare well-informed factual, accurate and timely responses to Ministerial briefings and correspondence.

Qualifications And Experience

  • understanding of program and project management tools and a demonstrated ability to apply these in a pragmatic and fit for purpose way (desirable).
  • Experience in the development and amendment of legislation and/or regulations in a State or Commonwealth public service setting is (desirable).
