About The Role
VPS4 | Fixed Term until 31 December 2026 | Melbourne CBD with flexible options
The Planner provides statutory planning services that support the Minister for Planning's responsibilities. Working within the South/East Metro team, you'll assess planning scheme amendments and statutory approvals, prepare briefs and correspondence, and provide well-reasoned advice that reflects policy, statutory and political considerations.
You will manage medium-complexity projects, engage with local government and key stakeholders, and contribute planning expertise to major initiatives. The role also provides guidance to less experienced staff, working collaboratively across the division to meet group and departmental priorities.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate strong critical thinking skills, the ability to interpret and apply planning legislation, and a sound understanding of organisational and political context. You bring effective stakeholder management capabilities, clear written and verbal communication, and the flexibility to work across diverse projects and priorities.
A relevant tertiary qualification in planning or a related field, and experience in statutory or strategic land use planning in Victoria, are required.
