About the opportunity
As
Assistant Category Manager
, you'll play a key role in supporting the Category Manager to drive revenue, profit, and stock turn targets for a specific product group. You'll manage inventory flow from suppliers across our retail network, liaise with external partners, and collaborate with internal team, including Supply Chain, Retail Operations, Marketing and Legal to execute category strategies and deliver optimal product outcomes.
This is a 12 month – fixed term opportunity.
What you'll deliver with us
You'll drive product development from inception to shelf, identifying gaps, emerging trends, and sales opportunities. This includes pricing, supplier negotiation, range planning, store delivery, and ongoing commercial and performance analytics to maximise results.
You'll also
- Coordinate and implement product forecasts for promotional campaigns (catalogues) and then liaise with suppliers to place the required order details within agreed deadlines and product introduction timelines
- Liaise and work collaboratively with Merchandise Planning and Visual Merch Teams for new product introductions to ensure accurate placement onto planograms or floor space within stores and via the range review schedules or implementation dates.
- Undertake regular monitoring of KPIs in conjunction with the Category Manager associated with the management of inventory stored with Suppliers, in Retail Outlets, and identify inefficiencies and recommend process improvements and/or courses of action.
About you
We're seeking a dynamic individual with proven category experience in retail. You take initiative, excel under pressure, and thrive in fast-paced environments with constant change. You're flexible, hands-on, and always ready to support new initiatives across the business. With strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, you build trusted relationships and influence outcomes.
You'll also need
- Extensive knowledge of key market drivers, industry players and latest developments within competitive markets.
- Experience with budgeting and cost control techniques to maintain financial control of income and expenditure.
- Managed a number of projects/campaigns simultaneously from conception to implementation.
