Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE: This is your chance to join the team at Nautilus Aviation in Cairns QLD as part of Morris Group. We pride ourselves on our customer service from the delivery of commercial air work, pilot training and chartered flights all while working in partnership with a number of top tourism operators to deliver leisure experiences over some of the iconic natural landscapes of Northern Australia. Nautilus Aviation has an exciting opportunity for a Regional Aviation Operations Manager to lead and oversee the daily operations of Nautilus Aviation in our Cairns QLD location.

Reporting to senior management, the Regional Aviation Operations Manager will be required to ensure the safe, efficient and on-time operations of all flights, including managing and coordinating flight operations, scheduling flights and overseeing maintenance and ground operations for the helicopters. As the Regional Aviation Operations Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Coordinating daily flight operations, planning and Uight scheduling;
  • Reviewing and adjusting flight schedules as required;
  • Addressing and resolving operational issues as they arise;
  • Maintaining compliance with all CASA regulations, safety standards and company policies;
  • Managing helicopter crew, including scheduling, rosters, emergency staff cover and training programs;
  • Financial management including budgeting, monitoring expenses and resources and overseeing quotations;
  • Enforcing safety protocols and undertaking risk assessments as required;
  • Developing and implementing operational policies and procedures;
  • Management of hangar, aircraft, office and staff security;
  • Coordinating helicopter repairs and maintenance;
  • Undertaking staff performance evaluations and providing training as needed;
  • Overseeing the arrival of passengers, including passenger manifests and safety briefings;
  • Coordinating assets with search and rescue teams and liaising with search teams;
  • Maintaining knowledge of all safety regulations; and
  • Overseeing the loading, refuelling and cleaning of helicopters.

Full-Time Salary: $70,000 - $80,000 ABOUT YOU: To be successful in this position, you will need to be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Tertiary education in Aviation/Services Management or a related field (preferred);
  • At least 2 years' experience in operations and management;
  • Experience working with helicopters and proven ability to manage helicopter operations;
  • Strong knowledge of aviation regulations, protocols and safety standards;
  • Excellent leadership skills;
  • Exceptional communication skills;
  • Organisation and time management skills;
  • Experience with customer service activities;
  • Experience in instructing, managing and training sta];
  • Ability to work under pressure and make quick decisions;
  • High attention to detail;
  • Proficiency in using aviation management software.
