General Manager of Operations – Food Manufacturing

An established and growing Australian food manufacturing business is seeking a
General Manager of Operations
to lead end-to-end operational performance across its production facility.

The business has experienced strong growth over the past 18 months and is now focused on strengthening operational capability, improving efficiency, and supporting long-term scalability. This is a senior leadership role with broad scope and genuine influence across the operation.

The Role

This role is responsible for the overall performance of manufacturing operations, with accountability across people leadership, production, supplier relationships, and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities include:

  • End-to-end leadership of manufacturing and operational functions
  • Driving operational efficiency, productivity, and profitability
  • Supplier management and commercial negotiations
  • Ensuring high standards across food safety, quality, and compliance
  • Leading and developing a sizeable operational workforce
  • Building strong internal and external stakeholder relationships
  • Embedding a practical, solutions-focused operational culture

About You

You are an experienced operations leader from a food manufacturing or FMCG environment, comfortable balancing strategic oversight with hands-on leadership.

You will bring:

  • Proven senior operations leadership experience in food manufacturing
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, quality, and compliance frameworks (e.g. HACCP)
  • A commercial mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
  • A collaborative leadership style and strong people management capability
  • Confidence engaging with teams at all levels of the business
