About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Buyer – Procurement (Pharmacy) to join our Melbourne team. In this role, you will manage a portfolio of vendors and ensure inventory is maintained at the right levels to achieve high service outcomes while minimising excess and slow-moving stock. This is a hands-on procurement position, requiring strong organisational skills, proactive supplier management, and effective collaboration across multiple teams including Demand Planning, Customer Service, and Warehousing.

Responsibilities

  • Review and perform daily buying requirements using inventory systems.
  • Manage vendor orders, cut-off times, and ensure order ETAs are accurate and up to date.
  • Liaise with suppliers on delivery schedules, shortages, and product changes.
  • Partner with warehouses to resolve discrepancies (e.g., short dated or damaged stock).
  • Monitor fill rates, excess, and slow-moving inventory, taking corrective action as required.
  • Support new customer rollouts, tenders, and product launches.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO/9001 quality standards and OH&S policies.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 12 months experience in a procurement, buying, or inventory management role (healthcare or pharmacy industry experience highly regarded).

Required Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Experience using ERP or computer-based ordering systems.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Motivated, proactive, and a strong team player with a "can-do" attitude.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in the healthcare or pharmacy industry.
