Position Title: Buyer

Location: Keysborough

Department: Supply Chain

Reports To: Supply Chain Manager

Scope/Job Objective:
The buyer is responsible for purchasing/procuring goods and services according to specified quantity, quality and cost requirements, and delivered within given timeframes while optimizing raw material and component inventory.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Key activities may include:

- Support reliable sources of supply for goods and services;
- Contribute in achieving the departments KPIs;
- Manage the sourcing of product and pricing;
- Prepare Request for Quotation (RFQ’s) and ensure information is received in a timely manner
- Ensure the correct creation and maintenance of supplier purchase orders on ERP/MRP system;
- Manage the reconciliation of invoices and receipts with purchase orders as required;
- Maintain programs for vendor analysis and drive cost reduction programs;
- Manage supplier performance in the areas of DIFOT, quality and cost and provide reports and improvement plans as required;
- Negotiate and implement supplier contract agreements;
- Participate in supplier audits;
- Assist in the coordination of the organisations inventory control activities to ensure that accurate quantities of inventory are purchased at the correct price and delivered within the required timeframes;
- Maintain the buying rules for all inventory items in ERP/MRP system;
- Negotiate appropriate delivery schedules with suppliers in order to ensure optimum inventory levels whilst maintaining zero shortages;
- Provide advice, guidance to stakeholders on purchase of goods and service;
- Manage suppliers’ incidents in line with group standards in terms of reactivity and problem-solving methodology; escalate to site level where appropriate;
- Support other Supply Chain functions where required, e.g. goods receipting, shipping
- Undertake such other reasonable duties as may be assigned from time-to-time;
- Commitment to Quality, Safety and Environmental requirements; and

Qualifications and Skills:
Below are the skills and qualifications required for the position;
- Relevant qualification in Procurement and Supply Chain;
- Previous experience with purchasing negotiations and procurement operations;
- Previous experience using an ERP/ MRP system;
- Experience in overseas purchasing is desirable;
- Manufacturing experience is desirable;
- Ability to effectively communicate ideas and information and seek opportunities for innovative approaches to problems;
- Demonstrated knowledge and proficient skills in business and office / service administration, including proficiency with Microsoft office Applications;
- Effective verbal and written communication skills plus interpersonal skills;
- Demonstrated initiative and sound organisational / time management skills, with a high level of attention to detail and ability to identify improvements, determine priorities, multi-task, work independently and effectively and efficiently meet deadlines; and
- Effective analytical interpretation and problem-solving skills.
