We are looking for an experienced and committed Nanny or disability support worker to assist in caring for our 14 year old daughter who has Cerebral Palsy and ASD, along with assisting with the care of our 4 other children; 13, 9, 9 and 8 years old.

Schedule:

The schedule is for approx 16 hours every second weekend, and involves an early 6am start on one day. Weekends may swap around throughout the year, but normally planning is well in advance. We have another existing part-time nanny who works mostly during the week, so this role is to supplement that position and share responsibility. Ideally, you'll have some flexibility to swap the odd shift around or work additional hours during the week or weekends if necessary.

During school holidays the the role also may include optional travelling with the family or occasional overnights while the parents are away. The role can suit tertiary students and study schedules, particularly if studying healthcare related subjects, and we're walking distance from Sydney Uni.

This is a casual position employed by a business with fortnightly payroll and payslips reporting super and PAYG.

The Role:

The primary responsibility is daily care of our 14 yo daughter who has moderate to severe cerebral palsy and ASD. While there is no specific experience required, a degree of physical fitness and an interest in learning new skills are key requirements, as she needs assistance with wheelchair transfers, bathing and toileting. She loves trips to the park and the shops in her wheelchair, so transfers in and out of our car and a drivers license are key job requirements. She currently receives treatment from professional speech, physio and OT, so this role doesn't seek to replace professional care, and this role provides many opportunities to observe and practise a range of therapies making this is an ideal position for anyone considering a career in disability or healthcare.

In addition to caring for our eldest daughter, there will be some involvement caring for the other kids which may include preparing meals, tidying up, laundry, sport and activity drop-offs, pickups and grocery shopping.

We are looking for a candidate who is smart, hands-on and reliable, and we value ability and attitude over experience.

  • Professional approach to childcare and the duties it entails
  • Previous disability support experience
  • Ideally previous Nanny experience
  • All legal requirements i.e. working with children check, police check (willing to obtain), 1st aid (willing to obtain)
  • Drivers license (no car necessary)
  • Non-smoker
  • Fluent English
  • Full working rights are required
