About the role

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Worker to join our team at Helping Hearts Disability Support in Minchinbury, NSW. This is a casual role, offering the flexibility to work around your schedule and commitments. As a Disability Support Worker, you will play a vital part in enriching the lives of individuals with disabilities, providing them with the support and assistance they need to live independently and achieve their personal goals.

What you'll be doing

  • Assisting clients with daily living activities such as personal care, meal preparation, and light housekeeping
  • Accompanying clients to appointments, social activities, and community outings to support their independence and social engagement
  • Implementing individualised support plans and providing guidance to help clients develop new skills and work towards their objectives
  • Advocating for clients' rights and ensuring their needs are met in a respectful and empowering manner
  • Maintaining thorough documentation and communication with the wider support team
  • Promoting a positive, inclusive, and nurturing environment for our clients

What we're looking for

  • A minimum of 1 year experience similar disability support role working with complex behaviours and Autism ( Level 3)
  • A genuine passion for supporting individuals with disabilities and a commitment to making a positive difference in their lives
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on providing person-centred care
  • A valid driver's licence, reliable VEHICLE and the ability to travel to client locations as needed
  • A Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent qualification is preferred
  • First aid certification and a clear national police check
