Clinical Psychologist (0.4FTE Maternity Leave 7-month Contract)
Melanoma Institute Australia (MIA) is an independent, not-for-profit organisation located in North Sydney. MIA is affiliated with The University of Sydney and Macquarie University and collaborates with academic clinicians and researchers at St Vincent's and Mater Health, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Royal North Shore Hospital, Westmead Hospital, Macquarie University Hospital and The University of Sydney to improve the outcome of patients with melanoma and non-melanoma complex skin cancers. MIA is a major referral centre for melanoma and non-melanoma patients from NSW and Australia.
The Role
MIA is seeking a Clinical Psychologist to join our Clinical Psychology Service, delivering psycho-oncology care to patients at MIA. The successful applicant will play a key role in achieving excellent patient outcomes and ensuring the psycho-oncology service is fully integrated within multidisciplinary care.
The Clinical Psychologist will provide evidence-based assessment and interventions to address distress, emotional difficulties, and quality of life impairments experienced by melanoma patients throughout the melanoma journey—from diagnosis, through treatment, and into survivorship, palliative, and terminal care. The role also involves contributing to education, training, staff support, and consultation on psychosocial issues in melanoma care. Participation in clinical research is anticipated, and the successful applicant will be expected to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with MIA's research and education pillars.
This position is based at the Poche Centre, Wollstonecraft. It is a 0.4 FTE (2 days/week) maternity leave position from late September 2025 to April 2026. Preference is for one of the working days to be a Thursday, with the other day falling on a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday.
Your Experience

- Recognised tertiary qualifications in psychology at Masters level or higher.
- Full AHPRA registration with Clinical Psychology endorsement.

- Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritise and manage competing demands.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt style to suit the audience.
