THE ROLE

We are seeking an Experienced Electrical Engineer with proven technical, regulatory, and commercial expertise in delivering commercial renewable energy projects. This hybrid role allows for flexible work arrangements, with a combination of home office and occasional in-office or on-site engagement. Travel across Australia may be required to support project delivery.

You will be responsible for full technical oversight of projects including grid applications, system design, documentation, smart meter data analysis, and commercial quoting. The role requires strong problem-solving skills, precision, and a high level of attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Design & Engineering

• Prepare high-quality single line diagrams, protection drawings, and engineering documentation for solar and battery systems starting 30 kVA up to 1 MVA

• Liaise with DNSPs and ensure full compliance with Australian Standards for grid connection approvals.

• Collaborate with SAA-accredited professionals (RPEQ or NER) for certification and compliance sign-offs.

• Design and optimise solar PV, BESS, and EV charging solutions using tools such as Pylon, PVsyst, AutoCAD, Helioscope, Spendwatt, and Orchestra.

• Conduct feasibility assessments, yield analysis, and system performance reviews.

Smart Meter Data Analysis

• Obtain interval data from energy retailers using Letters of Authority (LOAs).

• Convert raw data into NEM12 format and analyse usage trends to inform system design.

• Accurately model energy profiles to develop optimised technical and commercial proposals.

Project Management & Coordination

• Manage full project lifecycle from scoping, design, and quoting to commissioning.

• Coordinate with installers, switchboard manufacturers, and control system partners.

• Prepare detailed cost breakdowns and ensure budgeting accuracy across all phases.

• Oversee commissioning, testing, and defect resolution.

Client Engagement & Reporting

• Communicate technical information clearly to clients, networks, and internal stakeholders.

• Prepare detailed reports, proposals, and project documentation to support submissions.

• Contribute to the team goal of achieving an 80% commercial project success rate.

Leadership & Support

• Provide leadership, mentoring, and support to junior engineers.

• Collaborate with commercial and residential teams to deliver high-performing energy systems.

ABOUT YOU

Required

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Renewable Energy, or related engineering field.

• SAA accreditation for solar power and battery systems.

• Minimum 5 years' experience in solar PV, battery storage, and EV charging projects.

• Deep technical knowledge of BESS, PV, EV charging infrastructure, and system integration.

• Strong experience in quoting, project cost modelling, and technical documentation.

• High attention to detail, especially in drawings, analysis, and compliance documentation.

• Proficiency in Pylon, Spendwatt, PVsyst, AutoCAD, Helioscope, HOMER, and ETAP.

• Thorough understanding of Australian grid connection processes and safety standards.

Preferred

• NABCEP certification or equivalent.

• Experience in microgrid, hybrid system, or smart grid design.

• Familiarity with demand-side management and energy automation technologies.
