Finance Manager

KAEFER is seeking an experienced and driven Finance Manager to join our team and play a key role in the financial management and strategic planning of our Eastern Australian operations based in Adelaide or Brisbane. This position reports directly to the General Manager – Eastern Australia.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic financial leadership across KAEFER's Eastern Australian operations.
Develop annual financial plans and budgets in collaboration with operational and commercial management teams.
Partner with managers to finalise and monitor capital expenditure budgets.
Analyse financial risks and opportunities, presenting recommendations to support informed decision-making.
Lead budgeting, forecasting, capital expenditure planning, account reconciliations, balance sheet management, debtors, and profit & loss reporting.
Initiate and lead monthly margin reviews with divisional managers and commercial teams.
Drive continuous improvement by challenging existing practices to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and profitability.
Manage and further develop the accounting team locally and abroad.
Provide project accounting support, including profitability tracking, cost and value reconciliation preparation, and work-in-progress (WIP) reporting.
Statutory and Reporting Duties
Ensure timely lodgement of statutory accounts and audits.
Manage compliance for income tax returns, FBT, GST, and payroll tax obligations.
Prepare accurate monthly financial statements, forecasts, and management reports.
Oversee financial accounting, cash flow, contracts, order backlog, and business planning.
Facilitate monthly project review (PRM) processes.
Ensure all balance sheet reconciliations are completed accurately and on time.
Essential Criteria
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline (Master's degree advantageous).
Minimum 7 years' experience in financial management roles.
Strong knowledge of project-based accounting systems and practices.
Advanced skills in Excel and financial software applications.
Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and numerical skills.
Proven ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
Demonstrated experience in operational finance management.
Desirable Criteria
CPA qualification or working towards professional membership.
Previous experience in the oil and gas industry.
Proficiency in SAP (highly desirable).
Strong attention to detail, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Collaborative team player with the ability to build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
