Rubix Support provide support to people aged between two years to sixty-five years old. We are a registered provider under the NDIS and provide services across four main areas - positive behaviour support, support coordination, sexuality and relationship and lifestyle support. You are provided with extensive support throughout the week, not just at the fortnightly supervisions, monthly peer supervision or monthly team meetings that occur.Working with an established service that has significant experience within the positive behaviour support space not only provides you with vast opportunities for development but also ensures that the people you support will be given the best possible outcome.

AS A SEXUALITY AND RELATIONSHIP EDUCATOR YOU WILL:

  • This is a fantastic dual role, whilst you will predominately work the accountabilities and responsibilities of a Sexuality and Relationship educator, you will also hone your skills as a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner.
  • Provide comprehensive and inclusive sexuality and relationship education to individuals with disabilities, their families, and their caregivers.
  • Work with the Sexuality Educator and Manager of Positive Behaviour Support to design and develop curriculum that is age-appropriate and disability inclusive with material that is accessible, respectful, and sensitive to diverse needs.
  • Plan, facilitate and evaluate community education, training workshops and secondary consultation for participants and their families or caregivers.
  • Undertake knowledge assessments for groups or individuals as required to provide appropriate learning and support addressing their specific questions and concerns.
  • Follow up and perform needs analysis on referrals with the appropriate stakeholders, including participants, families, parents/caregivers, and other service providers.
  • Maintain accurate records of training sessions, workshops and individual assessments.
  • Collect feedback and evaluate the effectiveness of training using data to improve and refine future training.
  • Promote and develop the Puberty Education Program (PEP) in the community and to appropriate services.
  • Stay up to date on legislation, policies, and guidelines to develop the processes, policies and procedures relating to the Sexuality and Relationship Education supports at Rubix Support.
  • Advocate for inclusive sexuality and relationship education, promoting the rights and autonomy of individuals with disability.
  • Complete assessments of sexual knowledge and recommend supports and strategies that meet the sexual needs of the person you are supporting.
  • Create visual aids and resources to assist the person and their supports to better understand their support needs
  • Engage in professional development and training for contemporary and practical sexuality and relationship education service provision.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • You are a registered PBS Practitioner.
  • You
    hold with relevant qualification with experience in supporting people
    with a cognitive disability who require sexuality and relationship
    education.
  • Excellent report writing skills and assessments suitable for the intended audience.
  • Applicants must have experience working with participants who identify as part of the LGBTIQA+ and those from a CALD background.
  • Applicant
    must have Cybersafe awareness and understanding regarding the
    vulnerabilities of young people with cognitive disabilities in the
    online world including on social media platforms and engaging in online
    relationships
  • An ability to deliver training in small groups with people with cognitive disabilities and their support network
  • Able to facilitate and adapt preferred style to influence others to achieve planned participant outcomes.
  • Demonstrated
    knowledge, experience and understanding of the support needs of people
    with disability across home and community settings.
  • An
    ability to effectively communicate through the use of different aides
    to meet the communication needs of the person you are communicating
    with.
  • Well-developed
    communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to work
    and communicate effectively with participants, their families, community
    agencies and other professionals
  • Focused on supporting individuals to increase their quality of life through self-determined and person-centred thinking.
  • Ability
    to manage time and workload priorities with the ability adapt and be
    flexible to changing participant needs, while prioritising tasks in an
    efficient manner.
  • Experience and practical knowledge in evidence-based practices
  • Ability to utilise interpersonal skills and experiences to support and manage difficult, confidential, and sensitive situations.
  • Commitment to social justice and inclusion and valuing difference and diversity
  • High standard of personal integrity and commitment to the organisational values
  • Able
    to work independently and make calculated decisions based on training
    and knowledge and being accountable. Value and enjoy teamwork and
    ability to collaborate with others to achieve common goals.

SCREENING CRITERIA:

Rubix Support operates a stringent safety screening procedure for all preferred candidates including:

  • Two professional references to be provided.
  • A clear NDIS Worker Screening Check is required and will need to be provided prior to commencement of employment.
  • A current Employee Working with Children Check (WWCC) card is required and will need to be provided prior to commencement of employment.
  • Applicants who have lived overseas for 12 months or longer during the past 10 years are required to provide the results of an international police check. Applicants should contact the relevant overseas police force to obtain this and submit as part of their application.
