Director of Planning And Development
Welcoming communities, beautiful villages and a tree change lifestyle in Artesian Water Country.
Moree Plains Shire is located 640km northwest of Sydney and 473km southwest of Brisbane in Northwest NSW. The Shire is the most productive agricultural region in Australia. Home to the renowned black soil plains and abundant water supply, it boasts strong industries in cotton, grain, oilseeds and livestock.
Considering its rural nature, it is highly accessible, at the junction of national highways with daily flights to Sydney via QantasLink.
The Moree Plains Region is on an exciting trajectory of industrial and residential growth with national and state significant investment underway including the Moree Special Activation Precinct, Inland Rail and Moree District Hospital Development.
The Role
Work alongside a highly engaged elected member group with an appetite to support fresh perspectives and innovation.
As the Director Planning and Development, reporting directly to the General Manager, you will lead a high-performing directorate of professionals who are dedicated to shaping the future of our community. Together, you will deliver sustainable growth while safeguarding the unique environmental qualities that define our region.
The Director Planning and Development portfolio encompasses Strategic and Statutory Planning, Building Inspections, Economic Development, Environmental and Health, Ranger Services and Noxious Weeds.
In addition, the role is pivotal in building partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders, shaping the Shire's social planning agenda, strengthening interagency collaboration, and guiding access to grant funding opportunities.
About You
This is a unique leadership opportunity to join a cohesive, forward-thinking team committed to delivering lasting outcomes for the community. We are seeking an accomplished and motivated Director with proven expertise in stakeholder engagement and advocacy, and the capability to work effectively across all levels of government.
As a respected leader, you will bring a track record of guiding organisations and communities with integrity and vision, fostering high-performing cultures built on pride, accountability and results.
In line with the seniority of this appointment, you will hold relevant qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning, Environmental Health/Management, Business Management, Local Government Management, or a related discipline.
