The role

To provide Developmental Assessment Services for children and their familities in the Royal Hospital for Women Newborn Care Department Follow-up Program. The program provides developmental assessment of high risk neonates who have been cared for in the Royal Hospital for Women Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The Growth and Development Clinic provides support for the families of these children in providing appropriate feedback, support and advice to familites regarding development, behaviour and general management issues. The role of the Psychologist is to carry out psychological, developmental and cognitive assessments of infants and young children. This includes preparing reports for parents and other agencies as required and liaising with referral agencies regarding appropriate intervention strategies.

Selection Criteria

  • Full Registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA
  • Postgraduate qualifications at Masters or Doctoral level in Clinical Psychology or Educational and Developmental Psychology from an APAC accredited University
  • Experience in psychological and developmental assessment of children aged 0-7years
  • Experience in the administration of standard assessments tools (Bayley 4,Griffiths 3, WPPSIV, Vineland3)
  • Experience working with children and their families, including children with neurodevelopmental conditions (ASD, ADHD, ID, GDD)
  • Experience providing families with support to enhance parent-child interaction and to address problems with development and behaviour of infants and young children.
  • Experience with writing reports and for families and referral agencies.
  • Excellent communication skills.
