The role
The Royal Hospital for Women (RHW) at Randwick is the only hospital in New South Wales dedicated exclusively to the health and wellbeing of women and babies.
The Access and Demand and Waitlist Manager in conjunction with the Nursing/Midwifery Managers, are responsible for the coordination of resources and supporting activities to ensure patients receive appropriately timed quality care in the appropriate location. The role provides nursing and midwifery leadership and governance including monitoring and reporting patient transfers and bed utilisation to RHW Executive, SESLHD Clinical Leads and NSW Ministry of Health (MoH).
The Nurse/Midwife Manager is responsible for the overall operational management of the After-Hours Nurse Managers' and the administrative staff of the Booking and Roster Office. The position involves liaison with the RHW Gynaecology, Maternity and Newborn Care Divisions clinical leads, Executive Team, Booking Administration staff, and relevant clinicians regarding the utilisation and allocation of hospital beds. The Nurse/Midwife Manager is responsible and provides oversight for the elective surgery waitlist for RHW.
The Nurse/Midwife Manager Access and Demand and Waitlist is responsible for coordination of patient flow demand and activity across the Royal Hospital for Women (RHW) and transfer pathways across SESLHD and relevant Tiered Perinatal Networks (TPN) including managing and prioritising RHW elective surgery waitlist patients.

Selection Criteria
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Midwife with AHPRA.
- Postgraduate qualification in management and/or extensive relevant post registration experience in similar role.
- Demonstrated ability to manage operational issues within an acute care facility that include patient flow, patient access, managing a dynamic bed base within a tertiary healthcare organisation and manage key performance management goals.
- Ability to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent negotiation skills and the ability to engage, enable and manage teams.
- Demonstrated recent experience in an acute hospital setting.
- Demonstrated commitment to high standards of quality person centred care and to the provision of excellent women's health care services.
- Excellent computer skills with experience of Microsoft Office Products, Stafflink, Health Roster, iPM, IIMS, and a willingness to learn other programs including SURGINET, WLCOS, Patient Flow Portal and The Ministry of Health Bed Reporting Tool.
- Demonstrated understanding of NSW Health's requirements for the delivery of planned surgeries and procedures, including the steps for managing surgery and procedure wait lists, and the standards that must be followed.
