What You'll Be Doing
The Royal Hospital for Women (RHW) at Randwick is the only hospital in NSW dedicated solely to the health needs of women and babies. The RHW team understand their responsibility to provide the most exceptional healthcare experience for families through respect and partnership.

The Director Of Nursing & Midwifery Services (DN&MS) Role

  • Leads nursing and midwifery services at the only hospital in NSW dedicated exclusively to the health needs of women and babies.
  • Provides visionary and strategic leadership to ensure the delivery of exceptional, woman- and family-centred care.
  • Ensures the highest standards of clinical care through:

  • Contemporary and innovative models of care.

  • Interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Ongoing professional development for nursing, midwifery, and allied health staff.

  • Champions the NSW Health CORE values to foster a positive, respectful, and supportive workplace culture.

  • Plays a key role in the hospital executive team with responsibilities including:

  • Clinical and corporate governance.

  • Organisational and strategic management.
  • Service planning and development.
  • Effective and efficient allocation of the nursing and midwifery workforce.

  • Line manager for Allied Health professional groups within the hospital.

  • Provides co-leadership of the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) Women's & Children Clinical Stream.
  • Acts as a strong advocate for women, babies, nurses, and midwives at local health district and ministerial levels.

Selection Criteria

  • Registered Nurse and/or Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
  • Relevant post graduate qualifications or working towards and/or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated senior leadership experience in an acute hospital with operational management expertise.
  • Sound knowledge of current clinical practice, models of care, with demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to motivate and inspire staff to achieve service and professional goals
  • Evidence of experience in financial management, including cost centre management and staffing profiles and the ability to develop financial strategies and achieve goals
  • Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills with proven mediation, conflict resolution and negotiation skills
  • Experience leading a team to develop and implement new models of care and general project management.
