THE ROLE
We are seeking additional Diploma-qualified Early Childhood Educators to join the vibrant early learning community at Macquarie University. These roles are based across our highly regarded early childhood centres: Mia Mia Child and Family Study Centre, Banksia Cottage and Gumnut Cottage.
Available Positions:
Mia Mia Child and Family Study Centre
- 1 Full-time, ongoing position
- 1 Full-time, fixed-term position until 30 January 2026 (parental leave cover)
Banksia Cottage
- 1 full-time, ongoing position
Gumnut Cottage
- 2 full-time, ongoing positions
Reporting to the Room Leader, you will be an advocate for children, believe in quality early education and the value of relationships, and be willing to collaborate with the university community.

ABOUT YOU
You are a dedicated and enthusiastic early childhood educator who:
- Contributes to the educational program, including maintaining developmental records,
- Interacts respectfully and positively with children and families,
- Works collaboratively and respectfully within a large and diverse team,
- Maintains a current understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and National Quality Standards,
- Supports and actively contributes to all diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives,
- Demonstrates a commitment to professional development and continuous improvement,
- Undertakes the Responsible Person and/or Room Leader roles as required, and
- Follows approved policies and procedures to ensure children's safety, including child protection, supervision, health and wellbeing).
QUALIFICATIONS & OTHER SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS (please upload copies to your application)
- ACECQA approved Diploma in Early Childhood Education
- Approved First Aid, CPR, and Asthma and Anaphylaxis qualifications
- Working with Children Check (please provide your clearance number in the resume)
- Identify and Respond to Children and Young People at Risk training
- Food Handling training
- Flexibility to vary start and finish times including attendance at out of hour meetings as required
ESSENTIAL SELECTION CRITERIA
- Hold the required qualifications and training listed above,
- Experience contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of high-quality, inclusive, early learning educational programs,
- Previous experience working with children aged 0–5 years in a regulated early learning environment,
- Sound understanding of child development and knowledge of appropriate strategies for interacting with young children,
- Demonstrated experience in supervising children and maintaining a clean and safe environment,
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills,
- Knowledge of child protection legislation and responsibilities as a Mandatory Reporter,
- Understanding of the National Quality Framework, including the EYLF, National Regulations and Standards related to early childhood,
- Demonstrated computer literacy (e.g., Office 365),
- Ability to build respectful, ethical relationships with children, families, and colleagues
- Ability and willingness to contribute to a positive and inclusive team culture.
