Student Services Officer

Perth, Western Australia Engineering Institute of Technology Full time $60,000 - $80,000 per year

As our Student Services Officer you'll be the first point of contact for our student body (both online and on-campus) and play a central role in improving their experience from orientation through to graduation.

This is more than just a support role - you'll help shape the student experience by providing frontline support and fostering a welcoming, inclusive environment. Whether it's pastoral care or connecting students to vital resources, your work will directly impact our students' success.

You'll be part of a supportive national team, with Student Services Officers on our Melbourne and Brisbane campuses and a manager based in Perth. You'll have plenty of support and people to bounce ideas off but this is also a role where independence, initiative, and self-drive are essential. As one of our newer departments, Student Services is still evolving, so you'll have the opportunity to help build our standard operating procedures, refine processes, and leave your mark on how we support students.

If you are uncomfortable with responsibility, taking the lead or see ad-hoc tasks as a chore rather than an opportunity this role won't be the right fit. However, if you're motivated by helping others, adaptable to changing needs, and excited by the chance to take ownership and make improvements you'll excel in this role.

What you'll do

  • Be the face of the Perth campus by welcoming students, visitors, and stakeholders at our reception desk.
  • Organise and coordinate orientation events, engagement workshops, site visits and speaker sessions for both on-campus and online students.
  • Provide empathetic pastoral care, especially to international students adjusting to a new culture or wellbeing challenges.
  • Collaborate across departments including admissions, academics, marketing, and more to ensure smooth student administration.
  • Support at-risk students through tracking and proactive check-ins alongside the Academic Integrity and Student Success Officer.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with institutional and visa-related policies.
  • Provide support with work rights, scheduling information sessions, and student resource access.
  • Assist other teams with ad-hoc projects and initiatives when needed.
  • Work with our national Student Support team to deliver a consistent, high-quality student experience across all campuses and online.

What you'll bring

  • A genuine, student-first mindset by being warm, supportive, and culturally sensitive.
  • Curiosity, resilience, and a passion for helping others succeed.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach. You enjoy taking ownership, spotting improvements, and making them happen.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and the confidence to work independently while balancing team collaboration.
  • Flexibility - able to manage competing priorities, jump in where needed, and embrace ad-hoc responsibilities.

Experience & skills

  • Minimum 2 years in student services or another client-facing role.
  • Experience supporting international and/or online students highly regarded.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication. Able to engage confidently with students, staff, and senior stakeholders.
  • Tech-savvy with proficiency in Microsoft Office and student management systems (we use Moodle, but other LMS experience also valuable).
  • Creative and resilient – you're willing to try new things to engage and support students, and not afraid to adapt when things don't work the first time.
