Animal Attendant

About the role

Petcare Extraordinaire' is seeking an enthusiastic Animal Attendant to join our team near Orange NSW. This is a casual position where you can work between 20 to 38 hours a week. The number of hours available will be dependent on your skills, reliability and passion and of course demand for our services from our strong client base in the central west of NSW. As an Animal Attendant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and wellbeing of the animals in our care.

What you'll be doing

• Providing high-quality care and attention to a variety of animals, including feeding and exercising them
• Monitoring the animals' health and behaviour, and reporting any concerns to the senior managers and owners.
• Assisting with the cleaning and maintenance of the animal enclosures and facilities
• Interacting with customers and visitors, answering their questions and providing information about the animals
• Supporting the overall operations of the animal care facility

What we're looking for

• A genuine passion for animal welfare and a commitment to providing the best possible care
• Experience in a similar role, such as animal care, veterinary support, or zoo/wildlife work
• Excellent observation and problem-solving skills to identify and address any animal health or welfare concerns
• Strong communication and customer service skills to interact effectively with both animals and people
• A very reliable employee who has the flexibility to work a range of shifts, including weekends and public holidays with standard penalty rates for those days
• A relevant qualification or certification in animal care or a related field would be highly regarded
• Certificate II in Animal Care or equivalent qualification is required
• Physical capability to lift up to 20kg and stand for extended periods
• Current valid Australian driver's licence required
• Proficiency with basic computer systems for record-keeping and communications
• Demonstrated experience safely handling both cats and dogs in a professional setting
