This is a senior leadership role responsible for managing a diverse engineering team and ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of facilities that support world-class healthcare delivery.
As the Engineering Manager, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across all engineering and maintenance services. This includes responsibility for preventative and reactive maintenance programs, asset management, and vendor performance, as well as supporting the delivery of minor works, refurbishments, and infrastructure projects. You will also oversee security and biomedical engineering services across multiple sites, ensuring all services meet compliance, safety, and quality standards.
The role requires a strong focus on facilities management, resource planning, and contractor oversight while working closely with hospital executives, clinical teams, and external stakeholders. You will play a key role in supporting capital works programs, managing budgets, and driving continuous improvement in engineering operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage engineering teams across multiple hospital campuses.
- Oversee maintenance programs, including preventative and reactive works.
- Manage the acquisition, operation, and maintenance of physical assets, including plant and equipment.
- Support the planning and delivery of refurbishment, minor capital works, and infrastructure projects.
- Ensure compliance with all WHS, regulatory, and infection control requirements.
- Oversee security and biomedical engineering functions across hospital sites.
- Manage performance of contractors, service providers, and vendors.
- Develop and manage budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Maintain and update facility asset registers and ensure audits are completed.
- Collaborate with hospital executives and key stakeholders to support operational and strategic outcomes.
Key Selection Criteria
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Structural) or equivalent.
- Experience in a supervisory or management role within engineering, facilities, or infrastructure services.
- Demonstrated experience in asset management, maintenance planning, and project delivery.
- Strong knowledge of compliance requirements, WHS legislation, and risk management practices.
- Proven ability to lead and manage diverse technical teams and contractors across multiple sites.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong financial management skills, including budgeting and resource allocation.
- Ability to work flexibly and independently, with a high degree of problem-solving capability.
- Experience in healthcare or large, complex facilities (highly desirable).
This is an exciting opportunity for a collaborative leader with strong technical expertise and a passion for healthcare infrastructure to contribute to the delivery of safe and reliable hospital environments.
