The Opportunity
The Project Manager within Austal's Sustainment Program is responsible for overseeing multiple projects that support the maintenance of Defence vessels. Reporting to either the ABF Program Manager or the PPB Sustainment Manager, this role ensures that all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with quality and contractual requirements. Leading a cross-functional team, the Project Manager applies structured project management methodologies, provides hands-on leadership, and drives the delivery of HSE, high-quality outcomes with a strong focus on customer satisfaction.
What's involved
- Enable and empower Project Team to deliver on cost, schedule, quality and to meet or exceed customer and contractual obligations.
- Ensure appropriate PM methodology and tools are developed and deployed to manage the Project.
- Health Safety Environment (HSE) management – Site/Inductions/Training/VOC's.
- Ensure a compliant Earned Value Management System (EVMS) is implemented and maintained for the Project.
- Establish and maintain stakeholder (internal and external) relationships for the life of the Project
- Strategic Stakeholder Management / Interface, Communication and Reporting point of contact.
- Materials escalation / Mitigation strategies / Commercial contract management.
- Oversight for the award of work / Purchase Orders / Request for Quotes and subsequent evaluations.
- Contractor conformance and compliance management (Non-Conformance Reports).
You'll need
Essential
- 3-5+ yrs demonstratable Project Management Experience, preferably within Production Maintenance, Defence, Oil & Gas or Construction industries.
- Demonstrable experience working in performance-based contracting.
- Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders.
- Proven ability to assess project risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
Desirable
- Proven experience in maritime maintenance operations, specifically within marine and ship repair environments.
- Certified in project management through a recognised professional body.
- Degree or trade qualification in a recognised trade discipline.
