Rubies Community Care is seeking a passionate and dedicated Disability Support Worker to join our team in ACT. This casual role will involve providing high-quality care and support to individuals with disabilities, helping them to live independently and participate fully in their community.

What you'll be doing

  • Assisting clients with daily living activities such as personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks
  • Accompanying clients to appointments, social activities, and community events
  • Providing emotional support and encouragement to help clients achieve their goals
  • Advocating for clients' rights and ensuring their needs are met
  • Maintaining accurate records and contributing to the development of client care plans
  • Adhering to all relevant policies, procedures, and safety protocols

What we're looking for

  • Previous experience in a similar role, supporting individuals with disabilities or complex needs
  • A genuine passion for making a positive difference in the lives of others
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships
  • Patience, empathy, and a person-centered approach to care
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including Morinig, evenings, weekends, and public holidays

Essential:

  • First Aid Certificate and CPR.
  • Current Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) Check.
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
  • Experience with complex Bowel care, complex wound care, PEG Feeding, Dysphagia, Epilepsy seizures, external feeding, subcutaneous injections, Tracheostomy and urinary catheter
  • A car with full comprehensive insurance and a valid driver's license.
  • A solid understanding of Duty of Care and Scope of Practice.
  • Certificate III or IV in Disability, Individual Support, or a related qualification.
  • Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module.
  • Up-to-date National Crime Check
