About us

The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) is the leading advocate for surgical standards, professionalism and surgical education in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. The College is a not-for-profit organisation that represents more than 8600 surgeons and 1300 surgical trainees and Specialist International Medical Graduates.

RACS also supports healthcare and surgical education in the Asia-Pacific region and is a substantial funder of surgical research. There are nine surgical specialties in Australasia being: Cardiothoracic Surgery, General Surgery, Neurosurgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, Paediatric Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Urology and Vascular Surgery.

About the role

You will provide executive support to the Victorian Chair and Committee and will ensure the Committee's work is well supported and its actions are carried out, tasks include:


•    Provide secretariat support to the Victorian State Committee, including agendas, papers, minutes, and action follow-up.

•    Support the State & Territory Manager and State Chair in advocacy on surgical matters.

•    Manage correspondence for the office and ensure timely responses.

•    Prepare reports and documents for both internal and external stakeholders.

•    Build and maintain relationships with key external organisations.

•    Provide assistance to Fellows, Trainees, and International Medical Graduates with enquiries.

•    Contribute to the delivery of the College's strategic and business plans.

•    Work flexibly as part of a small team, including some after-hours commitments.

This role is part time, 3 days per week.

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

•    Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

•    Experience providing executive or committee support.

•    Skills in writing, editing, and preparing reports and minutes.

•    The ability to research, analyse, and provide sound advice.

•    Strong organisation and time management, with attention to detail.

•    The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.

•    Experience in advocacy or supporting member-based organisations (desirable).
