What you'll be doing

The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) will be responsible for the delivery and evaluation of clinical nursing education. The CNE will work in collaboration with the Nursing Unit Manager (NUM) and Nurse Educator (NE) and wider hospital team to develop and implement clinical education relevant to specialities and basic nursing competencies.

The CNE will work collaboratively to support clinical education to others outside the ward/ unit when required.

The Renal Treatment Centre (RTC) is a highly specialised facility that provides comprehensive contemporary care for children and young people experiencing various stages of renal failure. The Centre is equipped to deliver both acute and long-term renal treatments, including haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, plasma exchange, and other forms of renal therapy. Additionally, the Centre offers expert care for children and young people undergoing day only renal surgical procedures, providing thorough pre-operative and post-operative care. In conjunction with inpatient care, the Centre also offers outpatient clinics, catering to children and young people with chronic renal conditions or those who have received renal transplants, ensuring continuity of care and long-term management of their health.

These clinics provide ongoing care, monitoring, and management to ensure the continued health and well-being of paediatric patients. Through regular follow-up appointments, the Centre ensures that children receive comprehensive treatment and support tailored to their evolving medical needs.

Mission

The Renal Treatment Centre is committed to enhancing the health and wellbeing of children and young people through a combination of clinical care, research, education, and advocacy. By adopting a multidisciplinary approach, the centre ensures that all aspects of a child's treatment are addressed with the support of a diverse team. The centre works closely with Medical Staff, Child Life Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Dietitians, School Teachers, Clinical psychologists and Physiotherapists to provide comprehensive care tailored to the unique needs of each child, young person, and their family. This collaborative approach ensures that both the physical and emotional aspects of care are met, fostering an environment of healing, growth, and support throughout the treatment process.

Hours

The Renal Treatment Centre is open Monday - Friday between the hours

Working Hours

Monday-Friday 1 x 8hr shift. with flexibility in hours from 07:30-20:30 to support service delivery.
