Join the Department of Customer Services, Open Data and Small and Family Business (CDSB) as a Manager, Communication, where you will deliver excellence in customer service and work with talented people to make a difference and shape Queensland's future.

This role provides an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader to join the Strategic Communication and Engagement team in positioning CDSB as a customer service leader through innovative and cohesive communication strategies that help deliver accessible and integrated services and support to Queenslanders and small businesses.

As the Manager, Communication, you will provide strategic leadership and direction to the team, ensuring the department's communications projects, campaigns, sponsorships and events align with organisational priorities and deliver measurable outcomes.

We manage a flexible and agile workforce that supports service delivery so are looking for team members who reflect our values, are open to change and who can take on other roles as needed. This position description is indicative and may change to reflect the department's objectives and priorities, activities, or role focus.

Your Responsibilities.
As the Manager, Communication, you will

  • Provide strategic leadership to the communication team, setting direction to deliver high-quality outputs aligned with departmental and government priorities.
  • Drive creative and audience-centric strategies ensuring accessible and impactful messaging for citizens.
  • Lead integrated campaigns for internal and external audiences using evidence-based and data-driven tactics.
  • Build and maintain influential relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • Oversee governance, compliance, reporting and financial accountability for all communication projects, ensuring adherence to relevant policies and protocols.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire high-performing teams, set strategic direction, and deliver outcomes in a dynamic and complex environment.
  • Proven ability to engage, influence, and collaborate with senior stakeholders across government and external organisations to deliver strategic communication outcomes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience leading owned, earned and paid communications campaign.
  • Willingness to contribute to a culture of customer service excellence and continuous improvement.
