Accounts Lead

The role is responsible for managing and processing provider invoices and ensuring all accounts payable transactions are carried out in accordance with Surgery Connect and Queensland Health quality standards and controls. The position is responsible for driving administrative and transaction activities of the program to ensure the successful delivery of the strategic plan.
What you'll do
- Adhere to defined service quality standards, health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
- Review, approve and process invoices in a timely and accurate manner.
- Plan, prioritise and effectively manage provider invoices and accounts payable transactions in accordance with Surgery Connect and Queensland Health quality standards and controls in alignment within the strategic plan of the Department of Health, remaining flexible to adjust to changes and exceptions as they arise.
- Manage and maintain the database of pre-approved providers.
- Provide accounting advice in line with Financial Accountability Act and subordinate departmental policy to Accounts Officers and other staff as required.
- Reconcile financial data between approved Queensland Health and Surgery Connect financial reporting systems
- Drive business process improvement activities to whilst ensuring compliance with relevant policies and legislative requirements.
- Manage provider complaints and provide solutions that achieve positive outcomes in line with Surgery Connect and Queensland Health policies.
- Maintain high level interpersonal and communication skills whilst working effectively within a high pressure, complex environment.
- Work collaboratively and build strong relationships with key stakeholders from private organisations, Local Hospital and Health Services and Department of Health.
About you
We are searching for someone who:
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of medical terminology used to deliver patient-centred activities, including the ability to provide advice on contractual terms and cost-efficient pricing.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in database utilisation and management.
- Experience, skills and knowledge of departmental financial and administrative processes with a proven ability to drive business improvement initiatives that deliver more efficient work practices.
- Proven ability to interpret and apply statutory requirements to deliver compliant, efficient and effective financial transaction services within a complex and high performing program with a statewide focus.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders through both written and verbal means.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully manage a range of activities and projects within a complex program environment that is constantly exposed to conflicting timeframes.
- Other duties as required by the Accounts Supervisor; Surgery Connect.
