As the Project Engineer – Primary, you will be responsible for developing front-end engineering solutions for terminal station projects across AusNet's Transmission Projects portfolio.
In this role, you'll work closely with internal stakeholders to develop business cases for upcoming projects, with a strong focus on primary equipment. You'll play a key role in identifying, managing, and mitigating technical risks, while delivering practical engineering solutions and resolving design challenges to ensure projects are delivered cost-effectively and to the highest standards of quality.
With a Hybrid split (Office/WFH), this role is based in South Bank and is part of the Transmission Delivery Team with occasional travel required.
This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:
- Ensure project technical solution compliance with Customer requirements and Ausnet Standards.
- Drive process improvement initiatives, including the development and enhancement of engineering standards, specifications, and innovative methods.
- Provide technical input throughout the project lifecycle, including scope development, risk analysis, design reviews, constructability assessments, and safety in design.
- Support collaboration with internal and external stakeholders (i.e. AEMO and other DB's) to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality business cases are submitted for the delivery of transmission projects on our network.
- Support commercial and strategic project outcomes by contributing to estimates, schedules, risk registers, and customer offers.
- Champion compliance, safety, and continuous improvement by applying relevant legislation, standards, and AusNet policies, while fostering a culture of care, curiosity, and innovation.

Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering
License requirements: N/A
- Full driving license required
Registration:
Register Engineer in Victoria (RPEV) required (at least eligibility)
Experience:
- Sound experience working in a power Transmission or Distribution Utility or similar design experience with knowledge across Primary Plant And Equipment up to 500kV
- Experience working with sub or terminal station engineering, project delivery and or design
- Experience with brownfield and greenfield augmentation and construction
- Regulatory knowledge a utilities organisation operation within
- Understanding of engineering principals and applicable standards
- Proven capability and ownership in development of concepts, design, resolving engineering issues
