Primary objective
As part of an agile and high performing East Arnhem regional team, the Senior Project Officer will report to the Director – Regional
Development and Economic Strategy. The Senior Project Officer will provide a range of policy advice, project management and other
support to assist in the delivery of the NT Government's agenda of rebuilding the economy, restoring the Territory lifestyle and reducing
crime. The role will include a focus on supporting economic development in the East Arnhem region, including economic planning and
strategic policy advice. The successful applicant will need to work collaboratively with regional stakeholders including traditional owners,
communities, leaders, land councils, government agencies, businesses, service providers and other stakeholders in the East Arnhem region.
Key duties and responsibilities
Provide support to the Director – Regional Development and Economic Strategy and Regional Executive Director in relation to the
delivery of the NT Government's agenda in the East Arnhem region, particularly in relation to economic development.
Coordinate and prepare complex documents including ministerial briefings and reports, Legislative Assembly briefings and contribute
to the development, implementation, monitoring and review of significant initiatives and projects.
Provide strategic policy advice and support across a wide range of economic development policy issues, analyse current and emerging
issues and trends and undertake relevant policy development and policy implementation projects as required.
Communicate with influence and with a high level of professionalism and cultural sensitivity across all tiers of government, regional
and local stakeholders and leaders to support effective development and implementation of a range of initiatives.
Support disaster resilience and recovery through Local Emergency Committees and planning.
Selection criteria
Essential
Demonstrated ability to prepare ministerial briefings and reports, meeting notes, research and evidence-based recommendations based
on analysis of data and information.
Well-developed skills including strategic policy development, economic development, communication, influencing and emotional
intelligence as well as attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to organise and conduct regular meetings with key stakeholders, including well developed interpersonal, oral and
written communication skills.
Ability to foster productive working relationships both internally and externally, including to work productively in a team.
An understanding of the social, political and demographic environment of the East Arnhem region and an ability to interact effectively
with people from diverse cultures.
Demonstrated communication skills to successfully listen, negotiate, collaborate, advocate, coordinate and maintain confidentiality
and discretion that creates alignment between diverse parties and different viewpoints.
A current 'C' Class drivers licence or equivalent, or ability to obtain, with a willingness to travel in remote areas.
Desirable
Formal tertiary qualifications in a relevant field or demonstrated experience.
Further information
This position may require the ability to travel to remote locations via 4WD vehicle or light aircraft for extended periods.
