Overview

Join to apply for the Project Officer - Eliminating Strongyloides role at Miwatj Health Aboriginal Corporation.

Location: Nhulunbuy, Northern Territory. Regular travel to Gapuwiyak or Milingimbi Community. This is a full-time, fixed-term role until May 2027. Housing is not provided.

Responsibilities
  • Support community-based research for the Eliminating Strongyloides Program in Gapuwiyak.
  • Work alongside Yolŋu researchers and facilitators to lead community engagement activities, ensuring alignment with project protocols and ethical standards.
  • Provide on-the-ground logistical support to help meet key project milestones.

  • AO6 $111,217 - $124,332 per annum + 12% Superannuation

About Miwatj Health Aboriginal Corporation

Miwatj Health is an independent Aboriginal Community-Controlled Health Service. Established in 1992, we provide culturally appropriate, comprehensive primary and public health services for over 6,000 residents across East Arnhem Land from 7 health centres and dedicated outreach teams.

What we're looking for in you

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to Aboriginal Community Control and self-determination, with a deep understanding of the challenges faced by Yolŋu people in remote settings. Experience conducting research fieldwork or related work in health, Indigenous, or developing country contexts is preferred. Demonstrated experience in similar roles within First Nations communities, and the ability to lead and support a team with sound judgment and initiative, are valued.
