Key responsibilities:

Identifying New Business Opportunities

  • Research and identify potential markets, industries, and clients to expand the business reach.
  • Develop and implement strategies to attract new clients and increase market share.

Building and Maintaining Client Relationships

  • Cultivate strong, long-term relationships with existing and potential clients.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for key clients, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and retention.

Sales and Lead Generation

  • Generate and qualify sales leads to create a pipeline of new business opportunities.
  • Conduct sales presentations and product demonstrations to prospective clients.

Negotiating and Closing Deals

  • Lead negotiations with clients, ensuring favourable terms and securing contracts.
  • Work closely with the sales and legal teams to finalise agreements and close deals.

Market Research and Competitor Analysis

  • Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify new opportunities and potential risks.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to help shape the company's strategic direction.

Developing Business Strategies and Plans

  • Create and execute business development plans to achieve company goals and revenue targets.
  • Align business strategies with organisational objectives and goals.

Collaboration with Internal Teams

  • Collaborate with marketing, sales, product development, and customer support teams to ensure the successful implementation of business development initiatives.
  • Coordinate with other departments to deliver seamless service to clients.

Reporting and Performance Tracking

  • Track and report on business development activities and performance, providing regular updates to senior management.
  • Analyse results and make recommendations to optimize strategies and improve outcomes.

Networking and Representing the Company

  • Attend industry events, conferences, and networking meetings to promote the company and build a professional network.
  • Represent the company at public events and meetings, showcasing products and services.

Skills and Experience:

  • Proven Business Development Expertise: Previous experience in a business development, sales, or similar role is essential, with a demonstrated ability to generate and close deals, grow accounts, and drive revenue.
  • Specific experience in the safety/PPE industry is required for this business development role.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of business development or sales experience required.
  • Strategic Thinking & Planning: Strong ability to develop and implement long-term business development strategies that align with the company's goals and objectives. Experience in managing strategic accounts and understanding market dynamics is crucial.
  • Excellent Communication and Negotiation Skills: The ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with clients at all levels, as well as internal stakeholders. Strong negotiation skills to secure deals and build mutually beneficial partnerships.
  • Networking and Relationship Building: Proven ability to build strong, lasting relationships with clients, prospects, and other key business partners, using networking and relationship management to expand the company's reach.
  • Customer-Centric Mindset: A focus on customer satisfaction and a solutions-driven approach to problem-solving, with the ability to anticipate client needs and deliver tailored solutions.
  • Adaptability and Resilience: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment while remaining flexible and adaptable to new challenges and opportunities.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Experience working collaboratively with internal teams such as sales, marketing, and product development to ensure a seamless customer experience and deliver optimal solutions.
  • Results-Driven: A proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales and growth targets, with an ability to analyze performance metrics and adjust strategies for continuous improvement.
  • Australian work rights are required for this position.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field is preferred, though candidates with equivalent experience will be considered.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation for business travel.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite and other business development tools (CRM systems, sales software, etc.) to track leads, sales, and performance metrics.
  • Intermediate level CRM system experience is required.
  • Industry experience in the relevant sector (e.g., retail, wholesale, technology) is a plus but not required.
