The Opportunity

Laneway Talent is working with a
Federal Government Department
on the hunt for sharp, agile
Business Analysts / D365 Functional Analysts
who love turning business problems into real outcomes.

You'll be part of a multidisciplinary group that brings together strategy, design, and technology, translating business needs into solutions that genuinely make an impact. Working closely with Product Owners, Architects, Developers, Testers, and Change Managers, you'll help shape and deliver digital services that support Australia's workforce and employment systems.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Engage with stakeholders to uncover business needs, challenges, and objectives
  • Elicit, document, and validate both functional and non-functional requirements
  • Facilitate workshops and meetings to gather input, feedback, and alignment
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and maintain clear communication throughout the project lifecycle
  • Work hand-in-hand with architects, developers, and testers to ensure business intent translates into technical delivery
  • Recommend practical, user-focused solutions that improve efficiency and experience
  • Produce clear, high-quality documentation — from user stories and process flows to business cases and manuals
  • Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and ensure the final solution meets real-world needs

What You'll Bring

  • Proven experience as a
    Business Analyst
    or
    Microsoft D365 Functional Analyst
  • Strong background in requirements gathering, documentation, and user story creation
  • Confident facilitator of workshops, stakeholder sessions, and system demos
  • Solid understanding of
    Agile
    principles and ways of working
  • Sharp analytical and problem-solving mindset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A proactive, collaborative, and adaptable approach — you get things done

Bonus Points For

  • Experience working in
    federal government
    or large enterprise environments
  • Exposure to
    Azure DevOps
    and
    ITSM (Incident/Problem Management)
    practices
  • Experience in
    geographically dispersed teams
  • Familiarity with working alongside external or non-government partners
