Visitor Services Officer

- Multiple Casual, Clerk Grade 1-2 ($41 - $45 per hour) opportunities based onsite at Government House Sydney.
About the RoleWe're looking for friendly, enthusiastic people to join our team as Visitor Services Officers at Government House Sydney. In this role, you'll be the welcoming face of the House, greeting visitors, leading tours, and supporting a variety of special events and programs.
Every day will be different. You might be sharing stories about the history and heritage of the House and gardens, guiding school or community groups, helping visitors make the most of their experience, or lending a hand with event set-ups and supporting day-to-day operations. You'll also assist with administrative tasks like managing bookings, responding to enquiries, and processing ticket sales. This is a wonderful opportunity to work in a truly unique environment, meet people from all walks of life, and be part of the team that helps present one of NSW's most beautiful and historic residences to the public.
We're currently recruiting multiple casual positions starting in January 2026. You'll need to be available across weekdays, weekends, and after hours, with regular availability on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Government House Sydney
Government House Sydney, the residence and the seat of administration of the Governor of New South Wales - the oldest statutory office in Australia - is staffed by employees of the NSW Premier's Department. The team at Government House Sydney supports the Governor in the conduct of constitutional, ceremonial and community duties.
Collectively, the five functional areas (Protocol, Household, Estate Management, Communications and Secretariat) ensure that every aspect of the Governor's and spouse's programs of official engagements and engagement with the community are appropriately coordinated, managed and planned; that the official residence is suitably maintained; that the administrative arm of the organisation operates in accordance with relevant policies and guidelines; and that the heritage buildings, contents and grounds are managed and presented to the highest standard.

- Customer Service: You're passionate about creating great experiences for visitors. You bring warmth, professionalism, and inclusivity to every interaction, whether welcoming school groups, engaging with the public, or assisting VIP guests.
- Communication: You have a genuine interest in Australian history and heritage, and you enjoy sharing stories in a clear, engaging, and approachable way; in person, over the phone, or in writing.
- Teamwork and Flexibility: You're a team player who's happy to lend a hand wherever it's needed; from supporting events and housekeeping to helping ensure the smooth running of daily operations. You build trusted relationships and work well with a wide range of people.
- Working With Children Check: You hold a valid NSW Working with Children Check (or are willing to obtain one before starting).
