Position Purpose

The Financial Accountant is responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of the company's financial records and statutory obligations. This role supports the business by providing reliable financial reporting, maintaining compliance with Australian accounting standards, and contributing to effective financial management and decision-making.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & General Ledger


•Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger accounts.


•Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in accordance with AASB/IFRS.


•Process and review journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.


•Monitor and analyse financial performance, identifying variances against budget.

Compliance & Audit


•Prepare and lodge all statutory compliance requirements, including BAS, PAYG, and superannuation.


•Ensure compliance with company policies, relevant laws, and Australian accounting standards.


•Assist with annual external audits, providing supporting documentation and explanations as required.

Budgeting & Forecasting


•Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and rolling forecasts.


•Monitor actual performance against budget, prepare variance analyses, and provide insights to management.

Accounts & Payroll Oversight


• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processing to ensure

accuracy and timeliness.


• Support payroll function to ensure compliance with Fair Work requirements,

superannuation, and taxation laws.


• Implement and maintain strong internal controls across all transactional areas.

Cashflow & Treasury


• Prepare regular cash flow forecasts and monitor company liquidity.


• Reconcile bank accounts and manage relationships with financial institutions.

Process Improvement & Systems


• Review and recommend improvements to accounting procedures, controls, and

reporting processes.


• Support system upgrades and automation projects where required.

Ad-Hoc Support


• Provide financial analysis and advice to management as requested.


• Assist other departments with financial queries and guidance.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)


• Accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.


• Compliance with statutory deadlines (e.g., BAS, FBT, payroll tax).


• Effectiveness of internal controls and audit outcomes.


• Quality of budget and forecast preparation.


• Responsiveness to management and departmental queries.
