We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Power Reliability Engineer to join our Engineering and Planning team based in Brisbane, QLD, Perth, WA or Melbourne, VIC on a Permanent Full-Time basis.

Reporting to the Head of Power Engineering, you will play a critical national role in improving the performance and reliability of APA's Power Generation assets across both Eastern and Western Australia. This position provides specialist engineering leadership in reliability and failure analysis, working closely with Site Asset Engineers to drive performance improvement and reduce operational risk.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the divisional Subject Matter Expert for Reliability Engineering across APA's Power Operations, including thermal generation, renewables, and HVDC transmission assets nationwide.
  • Lead the development and implementation of APA Power's asset reliability framework, delivering customer-focused, value-driven initiatives to enhance operational performance.
  • Conduct and oversee timely Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations and reporting of operational incidents, ensuring consistent and effective resolution.
  • Establish core reliability systems, KPIs, and data-driven tools (e.g. Maximo, PowerApps, PowerBI) to support continuous improvement and empower operations teams.
  • Drive reliability improvements by embedding Asset Management principles and maintenance strategies tailored to Power Generation assets.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration through regular reliability cadences, RCA investigations, and continuous engagement with operational teams.

About You

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering with eligibility for Engineers Australia membership (CPEng/NER) or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive operational engineering experience in the Energy and Power sector, with a solid understanding of industrial reliability best practices.
  • Proven ability to lead and influence both technical and non-technical teams to deliver targeted business and reliability outcomes.
  • Skilled in applying reliability methodologies including RCA, RCM, FMEA, condition monitoring, and predictive analytics.
  • Strong knowledge of risk-based work selection and decision-making frameworks.
  • Willing and able to spend time on-site to build relationships, understand plant operations, and proactively identify emerging reliability issues.
