We are currently seeking an experienced Project Finance Accountant to join our team in Melbourne.

About The Role
The Project Financial Accountant provides critical financial support to the Commercial Manager and project team, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance, and efficient financial management. Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage project budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure accurate revenue recognition, billing, and profitability analysis to support decision-making.
  • Monitor cash flow, WIP, accounts receivable, and maintain internal financial controls.
  • Prepare monthly and annual financial statements and reconcile general ledger accounts.
  • Support tax compliance, audits, and financial reporting to management and stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain cash flow forecasts, budgets, and Joint Venture finance processes.
  • Oversee payroll, workers' compensation, and other project-related financial obligations.
  • Implement improvements to financial systems and processes.
  • Perform ad hoc accounting and finance duties as required, including monthly client payment claims.

Profil De Candidat Recherché
About You:
You are an experienced finance professional with a strong background in supporting major projects, ideally within infrastructure. You will have:

  • 3–5 years' experience in a similar finance or project accounting role.
  • Solid understanding of project structures, budgeting, reporting, and statutory compliance.
  • Knowledge of accounting standards, tax requirements, and internal financial controls.
  • Experience with upstream payment claims and developing financial processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting software such as NetSuite or Xero.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA, CA, or equivalent professional qualification is preferred.
  • Excellent planning, organisational, and communication skills, with a detail-oriented, collaborative "can-do" attitude.
