Your new role

Join our Environmental Sustainability team and help shape a more resilient and sustainable future for our region. In this dynamic role, you'll lead and support the delivery of key sustainability and climate-related initiatives that align with Council's strategic objectives and legislative responsibilities.

Whether you're driving climate risk planning, facilitating resilience workshops, or supporting broader sustainability programs, your work will contribute to meaningful environmental, social and economic outcomes. You'll collaborate with internal teams, external stakeholders and government partners to deliver innovative solutions and foster a culture of sustainability across Council and the community.

Please note: This is a fixed-term position, with potential for extension subject to funding availability

This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).

What we are looking for

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of climate risk mitigation, adaptation and resilience principles in the local context.
  • Extensive and demonstrated experience in implementing significant risk management and organisational change programs.
  • Ability to analyse problems by gathering information and developing solutions, options and recommendations.
  • Ability to research and draft plans, reports, correspondence and other project documentation.
  • Qualifications in climate risk management or related discipline.
  • Highly experienced strategic thinker with a demonstrated ability to work well in a high pressure environment, continuing to uphold a high attention to detail with quality outcomes.

Application Criteria

  • High level of experience and understanding of climate risk mitigation, adaptation and resilience principles in the local context. Qualifications relevant to the position are desirable.
  • Experience negotiating positive outcomes and collaborating with a variety of stakeholders to ensure optimal project outcomes.
  • Demonstrated extensive analytical, problem solving, critiquing and investigative skills with the ability to solve complex challenges and prepare associated strategic plans and reports.
  • Demonstrated project management capacity to manage multiple tasks and project deliverables with tight timeframes.
