Global Creatures (GC) is an Australian enterprise, headquartered in Sydney, with offices in New York and London. We develop, produce and licence ground-breaking live theatrical productions internationally. Our most recent production, Moulin Rouge The Musical, is the winner of 10 Tony Awards and the first Australian produced musical to originate on Broadway, with seven productions playing worldwide in 2025 and more to follow.

GC productions over the last 15 years include King Kong; Muriel's Wedding The Musical; Strictly Ballroom The Musical; How To Train Your Dragon Live Spectacular; and Walking With Dinosaurs – The Arena Spectacular.

The team

The Finance function is essential to the activities and success of the GC Group. Core financial functions such as reporting, accounting, managing payments, cashflow and taxation are integral to GC's operations and the management of its business. The overall role of the Finance department is:

• To be the financial lynchpin in GC's commercial activities
• To proactively drive and gather inputs from each relevant department and to manage the flow of financial information between departments, to external stakeholders and to the Executive and Board
• To provide exceptional accounting, reporting, budgeting, processing, compliance and tax services to GC.

The role

The role of the Assistant Accountant is to:

• Ensure accurate and detail-oriented processing of accounting transactions within the ERP system
• Produce accurate and timely month-end reports, consistently meeting high standards
• Assist the Financial Controller and Production Finance Director.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

Corporate Accounting

• Perform bank reconciliations across multiple currencies, ensuring accuracy and completeness
• Accurately enter accounting transactions into a mid-tier ERP system, applying various tracking categories for detailed financial analysis
• Management of credit cards and expense payments
• Maintain general ledger reconciliation workpapers and intercompany loan matrix
• Manage and maintain Fixed Asset registers for the GC Group
• Update Cash Flow Forecast.

Compliance

• Prepare and lodge ATO submissions, including IAS, BAS, and withholding tax  obligations
• Assist in the preparation of the Fringe Benefits Tax return
• Monitor and track due dates for tax residency certificates across the Group

Corporate Reporting

• Prepare timely and accurate balance sheet reconciliations, including variance analysis to support financial integrity
• Assist with preparing budgets for entities in Australia, the UK, and the US
• Prepare financial statement templates and compile supporting documentation for external review and audit
• Liaise with external accountants to facilitate accurate reporting and compliance.

Production Finance

• Assist Production Finance Director with royalty and other distribution tasks.
• Assist with updating internal financial summaries.
• Assist with reconciliation of intergroup recharges and prepare relevant journals and invoicing.
• Support ad hoc audits related to royalties and fees received and paid.

Key Selection Criteria

• Strong passion for the live performance industry, with a deep appreciation for its creative and operational dynamics
• Possess a recognised qualification in accounting, finance, or business
• Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work independently
• Proficient in mid-tier ERP systems
• Skilled in working across international entities within a group
• Adhere to a structured month-end process, consistently meeting reporting deadlines.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments to achieve shared goals
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, fostering productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
