Government Shared Services is seeking a bold, strategic leader for the role of Director HR Production & Transformation. This is more than a leadership role-it's a chance to shape how HR services are delivered across NSW Government during a time of significant change.
Government Shared Services (GSS) is the home of essential back-office services for around 80,000 employees across more than 100 NSW Government agencies. With harmonised business processes and a whole-of-government approach, GSS delivers reliable and efficient transactional services that support public sector performance.
The GSS Business Process Operations (BPO) branch delivers scalable and efficient transactional services. Focused on continuous improvement, automation, and service excellence, the GSS BPO drives optimal customer experience and operational performance across the shared services landscape, creating value and enabling NSW Government outcomes.
As Director HR Production & Transformation, you'll be at the forefront of stabilising operations, driving transformation, and preparing the organisation for major client onboardings like GovConnect and NSW Education Standards Authority. You'll inspire and lead a team of over 60 professionals ensuring service excellence.
In this role, you will:
- Oversee the delivery of HR Shared Services, ensuring reliability, quality, and alignment with customer expectations.
- Lead transformation programs to modernise payroll systems, improve data quality, and optimise processes.
- Manage escalations, incidents, and service demands with a calm, solutions-focused approach.
- Translate complex business needs into technical solutions through strong stakeholder engagement.
- Ensure compliance with audit, reporting, and regulatory standards.
- Build a high-performing, future-ready team that thrives on innovation and continuous improvement.
We're seeking an inspiring shared services leader with:
- Deep expertise in public sector HR and payroll service delivery.
- Proven success in leading change within a shared services environment.
- A strong understanding of payroll systems, incident/change management, and data governance.
- Ability to balance operational continuity with strategic transformation.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and professional association eligibility.
