Primary objective

Supports and provides collaborative, appropriate, proficient, coordinated direct and indirect clinical care for complex client

presentations, including working with and alongside less experienced nursing and midwifery staff, within the specialty area.

Context statement

As the sole health professional onsite, this role will work collaboratively with the Remote Outreach Consultant Centre and Medical

Retrieval and Consultation Centre to meet the health needs of persons detained in the police watch house, providing police

professionals with advice on the management of persons in custody. Extensive clinical experience working in professional isolation

(e.g. remote area nursing including emergency nursing, custodial care nursing) to effectively triage, manage and monitor acute and

chronic health needs of persons detained in the police watch house ensuring all persons are 'Fit for Custody' is required. Applicants

must be eligible to obtain a NT drivers Licence and meet the Police, Fire and Emergency Services security clearance requirements.

comprehensive client care and/or case management within the speciality area.

5. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken

in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Current registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia or eligible for same.

2. Demonstrated highly-developed clinical knowledge and skills in a relevant area of nursing/midwifery relating to this vacancy,

supporting well developed clinical decision-making and problem solving to achieve best practice healthcare outcomes.

3. Demonstrate and promote a learning environment through clinical support, instruction, and feedback including mentoring

students, graduates and less experienced staff across the multidisciplinary team.

4. Experience contributing to the development and implementation of local/regional policy, including interpreting established

professional precedents and organisational policies and supporting change management.

5. Demonstrated use of effective communication skills to influence and convince staff and/or clients, including on sensitive

matters requiring tact and diplomacy

  1. Demonstrates well-developed knowledge and understanding of the social and cultural issues, influences and sensitivities that

influence health care provision for clients and families.

1. Graduate Certificate beyond entry-to-practice relevant to specialty area.
