Prison Health provides clinical services to adults sentenced and residing at Alice Springs Correctional Centre (ASCC), within a multidisciplinary service delivery health team framework.
As the Nurse Clinical Specialist – Chronic Conditions, you will provide specialist clinical care, with a focus on improving outcomes through illness prevention, early detection, and management of preventable chronic conditions in the context of the ASCC. You will oversee client Adult Health checks, implement client care plans, lead and coordinate client specialist consultations through telehealth videoconferencing services, and provide supportive education to staff.
To be successful, you will:
- Have current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia or eligible for the same.
- Have highly developed clinical knowledge and skills in a relevant area of nursing/midwifery relating to this vacancy, supporting well developed clinical decision-making and problem solving to achieve best practice healthcare outcomes.
- Demonstrate and promote a learning environment through clinical support, instruction, and feedback including mentoring students, graduates and less experienced staff across the multidisciplinary team.
- Have well-developed knowledge and understanding of the social and cultural issues, influences and sensitivities that influence health care provision for clients and families.
