Primary objective

Supports and provides collaborative, appropriate, proficient, coordinated direct and indirect clinical care for complex client

presentations, including working with and alongside less experienced nursing and midwifery staff, within the specialty area.

Context statement

Provide best practice wound management care, education and training to develop appropriate skills and knowledge within the

nursing team in specialist wound care, respiratory review care, immunisation administration, infection control and other relevant

nursing areas within the Community Primary Care urban context. Evaluate/develop/provide client education resources. Apply

best-practice knowledge to evaluate current wound care products and research emerging products. Manage a clinical case load.

Must have extensive experience in wound care, have current vaccine provider certificate and NT driver's licence.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Apply specialist knowledge, skills, attributes and abilities within a defined practice area in therapeutic and professional

relationships with individuals, as well as with families, groups and communities.

2. Is recognised by the team for their expertise, is a resource for others, and engages in agreed independent practice under the

supervision and management of the team.

3. Accountable for providing sound professional advice and for assessment, planning, review, evaluation and coordination of

comprehensive client care and/or case management within the speciality area.

4. Demonstrate NTH values - safe; responsive; kind – in all decision-making and interactions with consumers and colleagues.

5. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken

in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.

6. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Current registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia or eligible for same.

2. Demonstrated highly developed clinical knowledge and skills in relevant area of nursing/midwifery supporting well developed

clinical decision-making and problem solving to achieve best practice outcomes for healthcare consumers.

3. Demonstrate and promote a learning environment through clinical support, instruction, and feedback including mentoring

students, graduates and less experienced staff across the multidisciplinary team.

4. Experience contributing to the development and implementation of local/regional policy, including interpreting established

professional precedents and organisational policies and supporting change management.

5. Demonstrated use of effective communication skills to influence and convince staff and/or clients, including on sensitive

matters requiring tact and diplomacy

  1. Demonstrates well-developed knowledge and understanding of the social and cultural issues, influences and sensitivities that

influence health care provision for clients and families.

Desirable

1. Graduate Certificate beyond entry-to-practice relevant to specialty area.
