About the role

We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Construction Estimator to join our dynamic team at Neater Constructions (Q) Pty Ltd in Cairns, Queensland. As a full-time Senior Construction Estimator, you will play a crucial role in the successful delivery of construction projects by accurately estimating costs and managing the tendering process.

What you'll be doing

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor costs

  • Analyse project plans, specifications, and drawings to identify and quantify all required materials and labour

  • Collaborate with project managers, quantity surveyors, and other team members to ensure accurate and comprehensive estimates

  • Prepare and submit competitive tenders and bids for construction projects

  • Continuously research and stay up-to-date with industry trends, pricing, and regulatory changes

  • Provide support and mentoring to junior estimators and contribute to the development of estimating processes and procedures

What we're looking for

  • At least 8 years of experience as a Construction Estimator, preferably in a similar role within the construction industry

  • Demonstrated expertise in preparing accurate and detailed cost estimates for a wide range of construction projects

  • Strong technical skills in reading and interpreting construction plans, specifications, and drawings

  • Proficient in the use of estimating software and tools, such as CostX, Buildsoft and Excel

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience
